Der Ihnen sicher in bester Erinnerung gebliebene Frauenarzt Dr. med. Karl Mayer, seine Frau und 2 Kinder befinden sich in höchster Not in Kermanschah, Persien.
Dr. Mayer, der legal mit Familie nach Persien einwanderte wurde, nachdem er verblich versucht hatte, dort eine Existenz aufzubauen, von Teheran ausgewiesen und nach Hamadan transportiert. Auch dort durfte er nicht bleiben und als neuer zeitweiliger Aufenthalt wurde ihm Kermanschah angewiesen.
Die Familie wurde seit der Ankunft in Persien viel von Krankheit heimgesucht, zur Zeit ist Dr. Mayer auf dem Weg der Besserung von einem schweren Typhus.
Dr. Mayer hat die Möglichkeit nach U.S.A einzuwandern. Nach dem jüngsten erhaltenen Mitteilungen wird die Familie das Visum vom Konsul in Teheran erhalten, wenn die Passage bezahlt wird, die via Russland-Japan noch möglich ist.
Dr. Mayer wurden von einigen seiner engsten Freude seit seiner Auswanderung aus Deutschland unterstützt, da er vollkommen mittelos ist. Angesichts der zahlreichen Krankheitsfalle und der Unmöglichkeit für Dr. Mayer einen Beruf auszuüben haben diese Unterstützungen erhebliche Betrage erfordert. Seine engeren Freunde sind allein nicht in der Lage den Betrag für die Reise, der cc. 1000.-Dollar erfordert, aufzubringen.
Ich gestatte mir deshalb, mich auch im Namen seiner Freunde, mit der Bitte um Hilf an Sie zu wenden.

Wenn jeder, der unseren früher so hilfreichen Freund Karl Mayer kennt, nach seinen besten Kräften beisteuert, dann müsste der Betrag für die Reise aufgebracht werden können.
Ich darf Sie deshalb bitten mir Ihren Beitrag, wenn auch noch so klein, umgehend zuzusenden, auch vielleicht unter Ihren Bekannten für dieses gutes Werk zu werben.
Der Betrag wird nicht nach Persien überwiesen, sondern bei einem hiesigen Reisebüro, das die Reise arrangiert, einbezahlt.
Sollte aus irgend welchen Gründen die Reise nicht zustande kommen, so wird der Betrag nach Ihrem Wunsch entweder an Sie zurückvergütet oder zur weiteren Unterstützung an Dr. Mayer in Persien überwiesen.
Eile tut Not. Vergessen Sie bitte nicht, wie vielen von uns Dr. Karl Mayer und Frau treue und zuverlässige Freunde in sorglosen Tagen waren.

The gynecologist Dr. Karl Mayer, his wife, and 2 children are in a very difficult situation in Kermanshah, Persia.
Dr. Mayer legally immigrated to Persia with his family. After making a vain attempt to establish a life there, he was expelled from Tehran and transported to Hamadan. He was not allowed to stay there either. Kermanshah was assigned to him as a new temporary residence.
The family has been ravaged by illness since arriving in Persia. Dr. Mayer is currently recovering from a severe case of typhus.
Dr. Mayer has the opportunity to immigrate to the USA. According to the latest information received, the family will receive a visa from the consul in Tehran if their passage is paid. It is still possible to travel via Russia and Japan.
Dr. Mayer has been supported by some of his closest friends since he emigrated from Germany because he is without means. On account of grave illness and the inability for Dr. Mayer to pursue his profession, this support required a lot of financial contributions. His closest friends are unable to raise the money for this trip, which amounts to approximately $1,000.
On behalf of his friends, I therefore take the liberty of asking you for help.

If everyone who knows our charitable friend Karl Mayer contributes to the best of their ability, then we should be able to raise enough money for the trip.
I would therefore ask you to send your contribution to me immediately, no matter how small. I would also ask you to discuss this with your friends.
The money will not be transferred to Persia, but will be paid to a local travel agency that will arrange the trip.
For whatever reason, if the trip does not take place, the money will either be reimbursed to you or used to further support Dr. Mayer in Persia.
There is no time to waste. Please don't forget how many of us had Dr. Karl Mayer and his wife as loyal and reliable friends in better times.
