Published in parts between 1799 and 1807, according to the imprint dates, or as late as 1810, judging from the dates on some of the plates, the work was assembled by Thornton from whatever pages and plates were available at the time. As a result, hardly any two copies are alike. The Othmer Library copy carries the title page of vol. 1 and lacks the third, most famous section, The Temple of Flora.
Caveat, Lector. (Reader beware) pages are misnumbered throughout the volume.
