Liebes gutes Vaterle!
Da das Porto so teuer ist, kann ich Dir leider sehr wenig schreiben, aber Du u. Max sollen sich über unsere Gesundheit ja keine Sorgen machen! Wir werden durchhalten. Bei schönem Wetter geht es auch leicht. Wenn ich nur schon mal Nachricht von Euch hätte. Ob Ihr mal eine Zeitschrift oder dergl. schicken könnt? Das Nichtstun ist schlimm. Es wäre auch gut wenn Ernest die Adressen eines Euch befreundeten amerik. Ehepaares auf die Koffer schriebe. Er muss sie dazu öffnen, denn sonst kann er das Schild nicht entfernen. Ob es dann nicht aus ratsam wäre, sie abzuschicken? Die Schreibmaschine könnte verkauft und als Fracht verwandt werden. Ob dies geht? Ich wäre glücklich über alles von Euch bald zu hören. Bleibt nur gesund, wenn wir nur schon bei Euch wären! Auch Richard und Fritz vielen Dank und herzl. Grüsse

Dear Papa,
Since the postage is so expensive, I can't write to you very much, but you and Max shouldn't worry about our health! We will manage. It's also easy when the weather is nice. If only I had news from you both! Can you send me a magazine or something similar? Idleness is terrible. It would also be good if Ernest could write the addresses of an American couple, who are friends of yours, on the suitcases. He must also open them, otherwise he cannot remove the label. Wouldn't it be a good idea to send them? The typewriter could be sold and used to pay for shipping. Is this possible? I would be glad to hear about everything from you both soon. Stay healthy!
