Caricature of American chemist Charles Lee Reese (1862-1940) created by artist J.C. Weller at the 1931 American Chemical Society National Meeting in Buffalo, New York. A graduate of the University of Heidelberg in Germany, Reese was the first director of DuPont's Eastern Laboratory, where he spearheaded the development of low-freezing dynamites and "permissible" explosives for use in combustible mining environments.
