Herzlichen Dank für Ihren letzten Brief, den ich bisher nicht beantwortet hatte, weil ich auf Antwort von Werner Hochwald wartete. Ich hatte ihn schon vor einiger Zeit gebeten mir sofort mitzuteilen, was er in der Mexiko Angelegenheit getan habe. Die Antwort steht noch aus.
Haben Sie in New York gehört, wie man eigentlich die Refugees in Mexiko

behandeln? Ich werde mich auch erkundigen, ob es ev. noch andere Visen gibt. Falls Sie mit Hochwald per Kabel (oder Brief) in Verbindung treten sollen, erwähnen Sie "Mexiko" bitte nicht mit Namen.
Da auch nicht ohne geringste Ansicht besteht, dass die Patentangelegenheit durchgeht, wäre es bestimmt am besten die ganze Sache fallen zu lassen. Hochwald schreibt das übrigens selbst. Hoffentlich erstattet Herr Holske das Geld zurück.

The conclusion has been reached that a favorable recommendation for the issuance of a visa may not be sent to the consular office.
This is a decision that we expected. For more information, I would like to recommend an article by Varian Fry (Emergency Rescue Committee), “Our Consuls at Work” (Nation May 2nd).
Thank you very much for your last letter, which I did not answer yet because I was waiting for a response from Werner Hochwald. Some time ago, I asked him to tell me immediately how he handled the Mexico affair. The answer is still pending.
Have you heard in New York how they treat refugees in Mexico?

I will also inquire if there are any other visas. If you by chance contact Hochwald by telegram (or letter), please do not mention “Mexico” by name.
Since it is likely impossible the patent matter will be successful, it would be best to drop the entire thing. Hochwald incidentally conveyed this himself in writing. Hopefully, Mr. Holske will refund the money.
