Sehr geehrter Herr Professor. Ich danke Ihnen sehr für Ihre Mühe und die Uebersendung Ihrer Rektoratsrede. Letztere war mir bereits seit mehreren Jahren bekannt und in meinem Besitz. Ich hatte Ihren Namen auch in dem Aufsatz der Neuen Rundschau mit genannt. Doch musste die Redaktion aus Raummangel den ganzen einleitenden persönlichen Abschnitt auf ein paar Sätze zusammen kürzen. Thank you very much for your efforts and for sending your rectorate's speech. I had been familiar with the latter for several years and own a copy. I also mentioned your name in my essay in the Neue Rundschau. However, due to lack of space, the editors had to shorten the entire introductory section to a few sentences. I hope I can return to your excellent and courageous speech on another occasion, which encouraged me in many ways.
