Sehr geehrter Herr Kollege,
Haben Sie vielen Dank für Ihre freundlichen Glückwünsche zur Erteilung des Nobelpreises. Ich
bin in der Tat sehr froh über diese außerordentliche Auszeichnung und es freut mich auch, sie mit meinem Freund Hill zu teilen, mit dem ich durch Arbeit am gleichen Objekt verbunden bin.
Meine deutschen medizinischen Kollegen haben mir zwar bisher eine Professur versagt; ich
kann mich aber darüber trösten; aber bevor hat sich auch sonst schon für mich interessiert. Ich
war in dieser Hinsicht auf Kulanz – 2 Monate zu Vorlesungen in den Vereinigten Staaten.
Meine Arbeit in Ihrem Institut, d. physikal. Chemie, kommt mir sehr zu statten. Nur weiß ich

Dear Colleague,
Thank you for your kind congratulations on receiving the Nobel Prize. I am overjoyed to receive this extraordinary award, and I am also pleased to share it with my friend Mr. Hill, with whom I have collaborated on the same topic.
Although my German medical colleagues have yet to grant me a professorship, I find consolation in the fact that other people have shown interest in my work prior to this. In this regard, I was on ex-gratia basis in the U.S.A. for a two-month lecture tour. My work in your Institute of Physical Chemistry has been very useful to me.
