Für Ihre freundliche Aufmerksamkeit zu meinem Geburtstag danke ich Ihnen bestens. Ihre Karte war mir längere Zeit nachgereist, da ich mich allmähig zu einem chemisch-militärischen commis voyageur ausgebildet habe. Jetzt ist aber wohl die Hauptsache in Ordnung. Alles läuft zu unserer Befriedigung normal und ich kann mir im Anschluss an die Versammlung in Frankfurt, auf der ich Sie zu sehen hoffe, vor dem Semester eine kleine Pause leisten.

Dear Colleague,
Thank you for wishing me a Happy Birthday. You card didn’t reach me for a long time because I was training to become a salesman for the chemical industry. Now everything is back to normal. Everything is going to our satisfaction and I can attend the meeting in Frankfurt, at which I hope to see you. This will allow me to have a small break for the semester begins.
