Liebes Jungel!

Vielen Dank für Deine Karte vom 12. Juni und Deine Briefe an Vater. Leider habe ich meine Brieflust verloren u. lege jetzt eine neue an, darum ist dieser Brief A1. Hoffentlich erhielst Du meine sonstigen kleinen Grüße. Bitte schreibe ruhig, was Dir ev. nicht gefällt. Von uns gibt es wenig zu erzählen. Es geht uns gut. Vater hat allerdings eine Erkältung, die er schwer los wird. Es war hier auch unwahrscheinlich kalt u. regnerisch. Der August ist auch keine Kleinigkeit für ihn, aber er wird schon gut überstanden werden.

Um uns ein bischen Zerstreuung zu machen, fahren Viktor + ich vielleicht bald ein paar Tage nach München. Die Kinder haben noch Schule und Mitte August werden wir sie wohl zu Verwandten nach Bleicherode schicken. Walte ist zum Touren-machen mit einem älteren Jungen in Schwarzwald. Sonst läuft alles seinen alten Gang.

Leider liegt meine Schwägerin Anna im Krankenhaus (Brustoperation), ist aber wieder auf dem Weg der langsamen Besserung. Vielleicht schreibst du mal ein paar Zeilen? Es tut mir sehr leid. Hoffentlich bist sehr munter, mein Jungelll, wenn Du auch noch nicht gleich eine Stelle findest, mit nicht nervös werden. Es ist viell. garnicht schlimm wenn Du mal etwas pausierst. Es soll ja im Herbst besser in U.S.A werden. So was kommt ja plötzlich. Ich freue mich

täglich, daß Du damals den richtigen Entschluß gefaßt hast. Nur gesund bleiben, das andere wird schon recht.

Dear Lad,

Thank you for your postcard from June 12 and your letters to father. Unfortunately, I lost my desire to write and am just now starting again, hence this letter is now A1. I hope you received my other short greeting cards. Please feel free to write what you don’t like. There is not a lot to say about us. We are fine. However, father has a cold that is hard to get rid of. It was also incredibly cold and rainy here. August is no small feat for him either, but he will get through it well.

For some diversion, Viktor and I might travel to Munich for a few days soon. The children still have school. In mid-August, we will probably send them to visit relatives in Bleicherode. Walther is sightseeing with an older boy in the Black Forest. Otherwise, everything is the same as usual.

Unfortunately, my sister-in-law Anna is in the hospital for breast surgery, but she is slowly recovering. Can you perhaps write her a few lines? I am very sorry. I hope you're feeling well, my Lad, even if you don't find a job right away. Don't get nervous. It's probably not the worst thing if you take a break. It's supposed to get better in the U.S.A this fall. Something like that comes along unexpectedly.
