Saloman-Calvi was a German geologist and paleontologist. In 1893 he started working at the University of Heidelberg as a private lecturer. He eventually became a full professor and managed the Geological-Paleontological institute at the University of Heidelberg. Like Georg Bredig (1868-1944), Saloman-Calvi lost his ability to work due to his Jewish identity. He immigrated to Turkey in 1933 and lived there until his death in 1941.
